Joan Armatrading awarded Broad Street Walk of Star

Three times Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Joan Armatrading received her much deserved Walk of Stars honour on Saturday night at Symphony Hall, Broad Street.
In front of a sold out auditorium Joan received her star from the Lord Mayor’s Deputy, Councillor Randal Brew and received a standing ovation from her fans.
The coveted award will be later embedded in Broad Street’s Walk of Stars alongside those received by other renowned celebrities. Recent stars have been presented to Julie Walters, Lenny Henry and early this year, to Beverley Knight.
On receiving her star Joan said: “Thank you very much. I’m very honoured. When you see my star tread carefully!”
In musical terms Joan Armatrading has achieved far more than most performers even dream of - she has constantly played, with some of the finest musicians around. She has received countless gold, platinum and silver discs, she has been nominated for the Brit Award she has been the recipient of a highly coveted Ivor Novello Award, and is one of the few female artists ever to receive an MBE from the Queen.
