Home of Metal appeal for this Sunday’s Tony Iommi event

hom-logo.jpg

Home of Metal is encouraging fans planning on coming down to Centenary Square on Sunday to see Tony Iommi receive his Walk of Star to come down in the prized Black Sabbath T-shirts and have their photos taken by the Home of Metal photographer, Steve Gerrard. The photos will then go on display, along with footage of Tony receiving his star, on the Home of Metal website and in future exhibitions.

Home of Metal is a new project led by the team at Capsule in collaboration with Black Country Arts Partnership, the New Art Gallery Walsall, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Wolverhampton Art Gallery. It aims to create an archive of the history of metal music and its origins in Birmingham. The project has started to hold a series of open days at the galleries inviting people to bring along memorabilia, photographs and great stories which will be digitised to help us create an online digital archive of memories, images and pictures to tell the story of this unique moment of Midlands’ musical heritage.
