New York style glamour for film premiere

Cineworld on Broad Street held the regional premiere of the new “Sex and the City” movie and everyone was out in their finest glad-rags!
The evening kicked off at O Bar on Broad Street with a “Man Auction”. Our 4 brave men were auctioned off and raised a fantastic £200 for the Agape Birmingham to Burma appeal (see http://www.broadstreet.co.uk/2008/05/29/o-bars-man-auction-raises-200-for-charity/).
Taxied up to Cineworld in a New York yellow cab, sponsored by the Jury’s Inn on Broad Street, our men and their dates joined the rest of the VIP guests at Cineworld for an evening of Champagne, glamour and, of course, the movie! The evening also included a fashion show by the students of Matthew Boulton College. Introduced by Suzanne Virdee from the BBC, and Steve Denver from Heart fm, the BTEC National Fashion and Textiles students showed outfits all designed and made by themselves this year and added that extra bit of style to the evening.
The champagne corks popped and everyone agreed a fantastic night had been had, Kelly Graham, aged 24, from Erdington, said; “All this glamour’s quite exciting, it’s lovely to see so many girls dressed up” and the men weren’t left out either, Pete Banger, aged 28, from Handsworth, said: “I’ve watched Sex And The City for as long as I can remember and I still try to catch the reruns”.
